Some ancient secrets should remain buried.

An American teenager in Cairo finds herself in the middle of the Egyptian revolution fleeing militant Islamic extremists. She leads her worst enemy and the boy she thinks about much too often on the adventure of a lifetime. When she discovers an ancient artifact that was buried for thousands of years, she learns that very powerful people will stop at nothing, including murder, to learn the secrets of a long-dead civilization.

My Review:

When I first started to read Egypt Rising, I didn't really know what to expect. It really intrigued me because of the Egypt content in the book, which as you may not know, but I love anything that has to do with Egypt. I didn't really liked how the book started out. I felt like I was reading a teenage drama. The book did got better and more interesting to keep on reading it.

Egypt Rising is a really good story with an interesting plot and a great facts and some fun history! I love that this book was set in Egypt. The setting takes place in a city of Cairo, which is a very known city if you know some of the Egypt history. It was surprising to me how much different everything there from where I live. As you go with the story line, you learn so many new interesting things, that it just makes you keep on going and reading more.

This story is an adventure, but it doesn't really start right away. It progresses and goes along as we learn about our character and her surrounding. When the adventure does start, that's when all the fun begins. I really liked the spins and the describable parts of their surrounding and findings.  The only problem I had with reading this book is that I felt that a lot of pieces were missing. Also some parts were truly unbelievable, not the fantasy, but the way characters sometimes acted. I can see this book being turned into a better movie than book.

Overall, I did enjoy Egypt Rising. I liked the setting and the plot. The book was a little predictable and I wish that there were more to the story. I felt like the developing was to fast and the story could of been a lot better with a little more.

  1. I love books about Egypt too, it's a shame this one had so much teenage drama! Glad you ended up enjoying it, though.
