Book Description:

Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens.

Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.

My review:

Can I just say how amazing this book/novel is? Because it was truly amazing! I loved it! Every chapter of this book!  The plot, the characters were outstanding!

Game of Thrones follows three principle story lines. The stories are told from eight different perspective of views, which I found really helpful and interesting because you can follow the story from different views and you get to know the characters better and to see how each character view one another. The first story line is in the seven kingdoms, which follows Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Eddard leaves Winterfell to King's Landing to help the king with the ruling of the seven kingdoms. He becomes the Hand of the King, since the previous Hand of the King died unexpectedly. Through out the book Eddard tries to figure out what happened to the previous Hand of the King, and he unfolds some deadly secrets...  Eddard and the King have a really good relationship, since the king loved Eddard's sister and out to marry her but she died in a hands of Targaryen, the previous "mad king". The story is also told from the perspectives of Eddard's daughters Sansa and Arya. Sansa is betrothed to King Robert's son and heir Prince Joffrey. Left in the Winterfell, the story follows Eddard's son Bran, who was suppose to go to king's landing with his father but unexpectedly while climbing fell and survives but wakes up not remembering what happened and paraplegic. During his coma someone tried to murder him, his dire wolf saves his and Catelyn's Stark life. Catelyn is Eddard's wife who senses that something is wrong and leaves to warn her husband. She leaves Robb Stark, oldest brother to rule as Lord of Winterfell. In a kings landing the story is also told from Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf brother of the Queen, Cersei, and Queen's brother, Jaime, "The king Slayer".

The second story line follows Jon Snow, the bastard son of Eddard Stark. Catelyn Stark despises him. Jon decides to join the Night's Watch at The Wall. The Wall barrier of ice and stone shields the Seven Kingdom from the North, protecting the Kingdoms from "The Others".

Also there is my favorite, the story of Daenerys, she and her brother are the last of the Targaryen House. They are said to have blood of dragons running through their veins. Her brother marries he off to Dothraki Khal Drogo, in return for Drogo's army, in hopes to return home to the Seven Kingdoms and claim their family's throne from King Robert.
